a peaceful place to unwind
Two bedrooms on a quiet country road in the northern Hocking Hills — with a hot tub under the trees, deer in the yard, and the gorges an easy drive when you want them.
Old Beech Cottage is a completely remodeled two-bedroom cabin on seven private wooded acres near Logan, Ohio, in the quiet northern Hocking Hills.
Set on seven wooded acres in the quiet northern Hocking Hills — well away from the cabin-lined roads near the busiest trailheads — this home was rebuilt from the studs with a light, modern hand — crisp white walls, warm wood floors, deep navy accents, and oversized windows that pull the forest into every room. Deer wander through the property most mornings, and the surrounding woods are alive with birdsong and wildlife — this is genuinely wild country, and the woods hold a good deal you will never see.
Inside there's room to spread out — cook together in the open kitchen, settle into the living room, or take a book out to the screened porch, then move outside to the fire pit and hot tub as the light fades. Our guests are also welcome to fish the private pond on the adjoining property, which is owned by our family — it's a brisk walk or a short drive, so bring a rod and spend a lazy afternoon by the water.
Two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, sleep four adults — just right for a couple's escape or two couples traveling together. A pullout couch in the living room sleeps up to two children.

We're in the quieter northern Hocking Hills — about a half hour from Old Man's Cave, and worth every minute.
Plenty of cabins sit shoulder-to-shoulder along the busy roads by the main trailheads. Old Beech Cottage doesn't. You'll drive a bit to reach the famous gorges — and in exchange you get seven wooded acres out the back door and quiet evenings with the trees. Easy to find, too: the cottage sits right along Bear Run Road, with a short rise up into the property. Pack a thermos, make the scenic morning drive, and come back to the woods.

Kurt, owner of Old Beech Cottage
Hi, I'm Kurt — the owner of Old Beech Cottage. My family has put down real roots on Bear Run Road: we own the cottage and the seven wooded acres around it, and our family owns the neighboring land and fishing pond. I'm lucky enough to spend real time out here with my young grandson, watching him grow up in the country the way every kid should — deer at dusk, a fire pit at night, and room to roam.
I purchased Old Beech Cottage in July 2026, already beautifully remodeled, with one goal in mind: to give guests a solid, restful getaway in the Hocking Hills — the kind of place where a couple can slip away together, or two couples can reconnect, unplug, and truly relax. From the poured-concrete counters to the hot tub tucked into the trees, it was built for exactly that kind of weekend — and we're always working to make it even better for the guests who stay with us.
I'll admit I'm a serial improver and a bit of an overthinker — I'm always tinkering with some small thing to make the next guest's stay a little better than the last. Day to day you're in good hands, too: a seasoned local host who has managed cabins in these hills for ten years looks after every stay personally, so there's always someone who cares, just minutes away.
We'd love to share our corner of the Hocking Hills with you.
— Kurt
Our kids could not get over how cute your home is. The oldest loved sitting on the back porch watching the hummingbirds. Thank you for being an amazing host. We hope to come back soon!

Fantastic hosts with a beautiful property! Kurt was incredibly helpful and kind for my birthday weekend and was quick to respond. This is an extremely relaxing cottage and I hope to visit again soon!

Old Beech Cottage sleeps four adults, plus up to two children on the pullout — six guests in total. So we can keep the home comfortable and well cared for, we're not able to host more than four adults. It's a great fit for a couple or two couples traveling together; larger groups will be happier in one of the area's bigger cabins.
To keep Old Beech Cottage comfortable and allergen-free for every guest, we're unable to accommodate pets.
The pond sits on the adjoining property, which is owned by our family, and our guests are welcome to use it. It's a brisk walk or a short drive from the cottage — not right outside the door, so wear decent shoes or take the car. It's a quiet, private spot rather than a public lake. It’s a private pond, so no fishing license is needed. Bring your own rod and tackle, and please keep an eye on children near the water at all times.
Old Beech Cottage is a non-smoking home. Please smoke outside and away from the cottage.
Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 10:00 AM. Self check-in details are provided after booking.
Old Beech Cottage is at 8126 Bear Run Rd, Logan, OH 43138, in the quieter northern Hocking Hills. Boch Hollow is about 10 minutes away and Logan about 12. Old Man's Cave and the main state park trailheads are about 18 miles — roughly a 30-minute drive on rural roads. We're intentionally away from the busy park corridor, so plan on a short drive to the famous gorges and deep quiet when you get home.
The cottage sits right along Bear Run Road, so it's easy to find — there's no long or winding private drive. There is a short hill up from the road into the property, which is straightforward in good weather. In snow or ice, take it steady; a vehicle with decent traction is a sensible idea in winter.
Yes — it's built for exactly that. With two queen bedrooms and two full baths, it suits a couple wanting to slip away, or two couples traveling together. The hot tub among the trees, the gas fire pit, the screened porch and the deep quiet make it a relaxing, romantic base. It isn't suited to large groups — the maximum is four adults.
Yes. Old Beech Cottage has fast 1,000 Mbps Spectrum Wi-Fi — plenty for video calls, streaming and remote work, even with several people online at once. As in much of the rural Hocking Hills, cell coverage can vary by carrier, but the Wi-Fi keeps you well connected.
Yes. Dishes and cutlery for eight, plus a plastic set for children, and a cheese board, snack tray and punch bowl when you feel like entertaining. Coffee is provided, and the spice rack is stocked with eighteen jars, from bay leaves to herbes de Provence. There's bar seating for four at the island and a dining table that seats six, so everyone can gather.
